my reality TV show life…
Published by Amy under Friends,Medical School on January 6, 2007Last night I had girls night with 4 other girls from medical school and one girls’ husband. Over the past couple of months we have slowly grown into the little clique that we are now. But it absoultely amazing that we did because the 5 of us (with the exception of possibly two of us) are incredibly different. I was pondering on how different they are then my closest friends in college. For the most part, I made friends with folks like me partly out of being in right places like Living Parables which was a big time commitment. (not that all parables are the same but most of us are middle to upper class white Protesants) The same with BSU. My friend Nichol’s husband commented that we are like one of those reality shows where they put random people together to see how they will interact. Let just look at sociology and religious, demographics…and a little fact here and there…
Snithia=Carolina Grad, Muslim, born in Banglesdash and has never stayed out pass 11PM till last night, parents are planning on arranging her marriage and she is ok with it.
Nichol=NC State Grad, Native American (Lumbee), Married to David (also a Lumbee who just graduated from MIT), Biochem researcher, big adovate for minorities and underserved folks, Religion wise native american+protestant (they had two wedding cermonies)
Jen=U of Florida Grad, only 20 (graduated from college and high school early),a mildly millitanty Calvinist, Adores George Bush, Big time Pro-life Activist
(she is like my friend Britt from Parables Up side down..ha)
Kanekiza=Emory Grad, gorgeous Indian Girl, we are fairly sure her parents own half of FL and maybe a protion of India, Hindu, a little boy crazy, shares my strange passions for genetics and Broadway
Me=Wake Forest Grad, the only libral arts major (Religion), mild Disabitly Rights activist (not on Jen’s Level by any means), Baptist, Gimpy and Navybrat
I am not sure how other than the strange musings of God how we are ended up together but I am very grateful. My only theory is minus Kankieza (and she is only mildly so) none of us really like the party scene. They have made medical school much more enjoyable. And I genuiely have enjoyed getting to know them. And if Real World calls and wants do a show about med school students….well we will all have less loans to pay!!!! (minus Kankeiza whose parents own half of FL
)
OH BTW, I got a 10,000 scholarship yesterday for being gimpy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Intesne happinesss and gratefulness!!!

Yay for gimpy money!!!!!!!!!!!
